Maidie

This picture was taken from my balcony on Viale di Trastevere. Leaving the camera lens open for a longer period of time lets more light in to contact the film, because this is a long exposure it has a long time between when the shutter opens and closes. During the time when the shutter was open cars were driving by, the lights from the head and tail lights makes the streaking effect across the center of the picture. If there was a fast shutter time this effect would not have been produced because it would have taken the picture much faster. Leaving the lens open also made it look lighter outside than it actually was.  It is difficult to take long exposure photos because you have to make sure to keep the camera very steady.
