Mary J.

My roommate told me about this photo of the Fallen Soldier in the spanish civil war. This photo was very popular after the war because of its controversy of weather the photographer intended for the man to be snipered in order to get this unbelievable shot. I was taken back by this photo because of the immense amount of energy and motion that seems to be flowing through this shot. It is a tragic shot regardless, but more so than many war photo's of those men dead or living. Versus this photo, is that transition between living and dying. That moment of transaction that happens most often in the blink of an eye. The vast open space surrounding him accentuates the sense of loneliness. We enter this world alone and leave alone. A very powerful photo.
