This photo is by Ansel Adams. All of his nature photography is impressive, but I found this one to be particularly breathtaking. I love how the rocks in the foreground balance the moutnains in the background. Also, the placement of the tree on the left side of the photo splits the image uniquely, and interestingly enough, frames the background. There is a lot of gray in the photo, but the contrast of the tree's shaddow and trunk set this off to make the photograph work.
