Angie (depth of field)

In photography, depth of field is the portion of a photo that is in focus. A lens can precisely focus at one distance but on either side of that distance the sharpness gradually decreases. The depth of field of a photo is personal and the photographer can change the depth of field for each photo. Sometimes the person photographing may want the entire image to be sharp, having a larger depth of field. In other cases the photographer may want once object to be in focus and everything else blurry, using a small depth of field. Above is an example of a photo where only one object is in focus and everything behind it is blurry.
