Mer

This photo is by a photographer named Ralph Eugene Meatyard and is entitled "Madonna" 1964. I found this to be a striking example of how one can use the natural light and space of a room to create a very rhythmic and abstract image. He also seems to be very aware and in tune with the relationship of the figures and the negative space around them. The black and white tones are in high contrast with one another, causing the viewers eye to move around the image, and our brain to interpret the shapes and lines with high energy. The contrast between the organic forms of the mother and child, and the geometric lines of the blinds and the window also make this photograph extremely interesting and pleasing to look at.
