Diane Arbus knows how to capture the intimacy and uneasiness of her subjects and passionately turned "the out-casts" of the western societies into admirable standards. Diane Arbus was born from a wealthy Jewish family in which she felt useless and invisible. In the early 60's her commercial portraits for Esquire and Harper magazine gained an extravagant authenticity. She decided to break from values of standardization characterizing the 50's and deny the model of perfection imposed by the rules of fashion photography. Diane Arbus based her works on the accurate research of subjects. She would try the break down the wall of embarrassment to the point were they would finally drop their public facade. She illustrated the other side of our cities, the disturbing realities that we have always wanted to marginalize.
